Keep all documents safe: ISIC has 'Virtual Safe' Facility to keep the documents safe. At the event of loss of any of the documents, copies can be retrieved from the virtual safe anywhere in the world.

Forex: Large amounts of currency should never be carried. As a part of the ISIC Student Travel Package, the student-traveler is advised on the amount of currency, Travelers' Cheques etc he should carry. Always hand-carry your money and important documents.

Follow local laws, regulations and customs: All countries have different laws and one must adhere to them. In case a student gets into a difficulty, the ISIC travel package has a 24-hour toll-free international helpline number for assistance.

Plan your return journey: With the ISIC Student Travel Package, you can get the 6-month or the one-year return fares payable in INR to return for your vacations.

Carry insurance: As a part of the ISIC Student Travel Package, special insurance products are also being offered to the students.

Stay Healthy: Traveling with care also means taking care of yourself. Make your health a priority at all times. A few wise steps can go a long way:
• Make sure routine vaccinations are up to date.
• Consult with a doctor who specializes in travel medicine to ensure you get the appropriate shots and vaccinations before you travel.
• If you are currently on medication remember to bring along an extra supply. Bring along a spare set of specs if you wear glasses.
• If you take medication according to a strict time schedule (e.g. insulin, contraceptive pill) and are traveling across time zones, find out from your doctor how to adjust your schedule.
• Bring basic first aid kit with medicines as prescribed by your family doctor.
• Always wash fruit and vegetables with clean, purified water
• Never drink impure water or ice
• Take appropriate measures to avoid being bitten by animals or insects. If you are bitten or stung, visit a local doctor for treatment immediately. If symptoms persist after you return home, provide your doctor with a detailed account of which countries you visited and the circumstances of the accident or attack.
• Before you go find out where you can get help if you get ill or injured while abroad.
• Make sure you have medical insurance before you leave and find out which all hospitals are covered under that insurance
